The Friends Island

The Friends Island

Once upon a time, there was a boy who lived in an island called "Friends Island". It was really hard for the boy to live in the strange and isolated piece of land. But God blessed the boy with the friends who left indelible marks on his life. The boy didn't enjoy as much in his life as being the citizen of the "Friends Island”. The initial phase of time spent in the island was the toughest time ever lived. But the things are at their best at the end of this wonderful journey.

One day, the boy's best friend Mr. Real arrived in the "Friends Island”. He wanted to meet the boy's wonderful friends. The boy took him to a walk around in the "Friends Island". A girl was very nervous about how the things will change for good. She was looking into the far end of the island and probably, she wanted a way out of the "Friends Island". Mr. Real interrupted and asked to share some moments spent with the girl.

The boy told him that the girl was nick-named ‘Bitia’ and the name carried the meaning and depth of relation with the girl. The girl taught the boy how to walk when he was a tiny toddler. She was the one who used to shake his chair and motivated him to pursue his ambitions. She was the one who used to share her secrets with him. She was the one who used to help him when he got into trouble. She was the one who used to eat paranthas, ice-creams, French fries and baby corn pizzas. She was the one who used to talk incessantly and sometimes, the boy didn't understand what she wanted to express. She was the one who always showed her interest in the foot wears. She is the one who always wanted to go home.

Mr. Real was amazed as he hadn't had such a wonderful friend in his life. He became jealous. This was quite visible on his face. They went further and reached a lake called "Magar Lake". Mr. Real was really tired and wanted to relax after a tiring journey from the Real World. The two sat together on the banks of the lake and went into the past memories. Suddenly, a Magarmach appeared from nowhere and sat beside them. Mr. Real stood up and started running towards the main land. The boy called him back and tried to purge his fear as the Magar was also his friend. Three of them had the drinks on the banks of the "Magar Lake”. They spent a wonderful evening. The Magar disappeared into the lake after the party. The two walked back to the home.

Mr. Real was wondered how a Magar could be the boy's friend. He urged the boy to throw some light on Magar. The boy said that Magar was also known as "Farzi" but he was the most genuine person among his friends. He was the one who never forgot to celebrate the birthdays. You could aptly call him a Birthday Manager. Whenever the new girls land on the "Friends Island", the Magar would get out of the lake and search out for the best among them. These were the two peculiarities of the Magar. He owned a serious face, that's why; he had been nick-named Magar. The Magar was the one who shared with the boy some of the funniest moments in the Friends Island. The boy and Magar christened some of the unique names, few of them were Bitia, Nagin, Chawanni, Athanni, Paanch ka sikka, Chinku, Tambakoo Wali, Cooker Khasi, Nigeria Wali, Coming Soon, Khundaki, Danvi, Bakasur, Hari Chudel, Nanhi Neena and Bholu. The popularity of Bholu went beyond the boundaries of the Friends Island.

The two were trembling with cold as it was the winter season in the Friends Island. The boy asked Mr. Real if he wanted to have some tea. Mr. Real accepted his offer. They walked some 100 meters when the boy could clearly see a hoarding which read "Bholu Chai Wala". Mr. Real and the boy sat on a wooden bench beside Bholu. Mr. Real was losing his breath with cold. He mumbled, “Do Chai". All the sirens in the Friends Island went out. The boy was trembling with fear because a major earthquake was in the offing. Bholu stood up and fired some of the censored words at Mr. Real and threw the boiling tea on the face of Mr. Real. Mr. Real didn't know that these two words could provoke Bholu. Both the friends ran for safety. A tap was flowing near Friends temple. Mr. Real splashed his face with cold water to ease the burns and the two went to Friends hospital for dressing.

Mr. Real was still clueless about what happened. The boy explained that he used to tease Bholu with these two words and to add spices, he used to ask for Mathi, Naan Khatai and fan etc. Bholu never prepared tea for the boy and his friends. He would put out some bad words instead. Mr. Real was very interested to listen about Bholu in detail.

Bholu had been the best buddy for everybody on the Friends Island. He had been the real centre of attraction. Be it his fitting replies like "Ja tu bana le" when the boy asked him to make a tea, be it some non sense English like "to travel on a bus means bus ki chat par chalna", be it his hairstyle, be it his funky jeans, be it his career plans, be it his style of carrying the bag, be it his comments like "ek saal baad 5 ka package toh expect karta hoon", "Chal yar khana kha lete hai nahi toh khatam ho jayega", be it his dance in the disc and in the hills, be it his readiness to taste the very first piece of cake. While telling about Bholu, the boy lost in the memories and forgot Mr. Real. When the boy came back, he found that Mr. Real's ribcage had popped out of the mouth. The doctor said that excessive laughter led to popping out of rib cage. Then the boy remembered how this used to happen with almost everyone.

Mr. Real came to his senses after a two hour long rib cage replacement operation. The doctor advised bed rest for two days. They didn't do anything for next two days. The boy told Mr. Real that there was a famous "Friends Cafe" near the Fountain Square. We could go there and spend some good time among some good people. It was a big cafe with several hundred seating capacity. The two took a corner seat and discussed about their encounter with Bholu. There was a group sitting two seats left of them. The group was nick-named Charlie's Angels. The group had four people named Sugreev, PC, Chavanni and Panch ka sikka. Mr. Real asked the boy to make the things clear. The boy replied that Sugreev was the best friend of his brother Rama. Mr. Real's face glowed and said that then you must be Laxman. There must be a Ramayana story in the Friends Island which I would like to know about. The boy soothed Mr. Real and promised to take him for the Ram Leela. The boy continued that Sugreev had his unique style and liked to spend his time with Chavanni, Panch ka sikka and PC. You would find these four people at parties, in the Friends Cafe and on the parapet of the fountain. PC had a broad smile and it carried energy and spark. She hid her spark behind the lips whenever the boy saw her laughing. A film actress carries the charisma and the contours of her bright face. The boy was the first to compliment her facial contours.

Just below the LCD TV, the boy could see Bholu Chai Wala. The boy poked Mr. Real and pointed towards Bholu. Mr. Real got nervous and hid his face with both the hands. The boy asked him to calm down. He said,” Bholu troubles only when you ask him for a tea. So, there was no harm sitting here.” Mr. Real asked who was sitting with Bholu. The boy said, "he was the most scholarly saint of the Friends Island. Bholu was using his services since the saint touched his holy feet on the Friends Island. The saint is famous across the length and breadth of the Island for his knowledge and sneeze. Whenever the saint sneezed, the island had witnessed some tough times. Once he was meditating near “Magar Lake”. Suddenly, he sneezed and the water of the lake vaporized. Once he sneezed on the Fountain Square, nobody could hear anything for next two days because they temporarily lost their hearing ability. He could even shoo away a dragon with his sneeze. So, you should better be his follower and you can literally bathe in the Gyan Ganga that flowed from his mouth."

Three km down the fountain square in the midst of huge trees, there was Friends Library. The boy and Mr. Real walked down to the library to get their hands on the literature of the Friends Island. The most prominent among these were 'Kalyug ki Ramayan', 'Smitz & Mitz', 'Chudel ka Aatank', 'Bholu aur do chai', 'Maa aur Magar','Ram, Laxman aur Pool Table','Kataksh ke prakar','Laxman aur Ravan ka Yudh','Halwaii aur Mistri','Naam ka Puran','Bitia aur Helmet','Magar aur uska Farziwada','Nirbal Ram','Maa ke Pravachan','Danvi ka Aatank-26/06/2010','Mera gahra dost-Daadi Wala Smiley','Mitz aur uski Meow','Saint ka Package' etc. Mr. Real said, “I would read all of them."Mr. Real took 'Hawaii aur Mistri' and the boy took 'Maa ke Pravachan'. They both sat there to read.

Just beside their seats, there were two studious girls. One was wearing a helmet and the other was completely lost in the book. Mr. Real asked why the girl had a Helmet on her head. The boy replied that it was her hairstyle that looked like a Helmet. Perhaps, she had been nick-named Helmet because of her hair style. Helmet couldn't control and spoke out, "ek baat bolu kapoor, yeh kataksh karna achi baat nahi". Helmet didn't lose any time and lost into the books again. The boy was speechless. Mr. Real asked what happened to you. The boy whispered that he didn't have the courage to play kataksh with Helmet. Mr. Real asked who the girl next to Helmet was. The boy said that she was nicknamed Heera because of her dedication towards the work. The boy and Mr. Real stood up from their seats and went behind Heera silently. What they found was a big surprise. She had a book titled GSM SYSTEM SURVEY, but she was not reading the book. She was looking at the photograph of a boy. She looked behind and broke into laughter as she used to do. The boy told Mr. Real that Heera was as close to him as Bitia was. Heera had also helped the boy in the times of trouble. She had also shared some moments of her college days with the boy. Mr. Real didn't have this kind of experience throughout his life. He had no words and envy had overpowered his facial expressionism. Mr. Real and the boy carried their books and went back to home.

Next day, they went to Friends Art Museum. Two strange characters were showcasing their talent. The two approached an artist whose name was Daadi Wala Smiley. The boy introduced, "Daadi Wala Smiley is a great calligraphist and is one of my dearest friends. The samples of his art are nailed to the wall and don't need anybody’s approval.” The boy told Mr. Real that the artist was nicknamed so because there was no smiley with a beard in the same time. Believe me; his art really inspires everybody in the Friends Island. The two friends wished Daadi Wala Smiley success and prosperity and approached the second character, Nanhi Neena. The boy introduced, “She is a little fairy who loves to play with colors. The testimony of her artistic flair hangs on the wall to our left.” Mr. Real was in love with the colors of innocence and simplicity. He liked a New Year painting and kept it as a memento.

The two friends came out of the museum and hired a Friends Tuk-Tuk and went to Friends Cinema which was 2.5 km uphill beyond the hustle and bustle of the Fountain Square. The movie on show was The Best Friends. There were two characters in the movie and a villain called Shocker. Smitz and Mitz were two best friends and they liked to laugh and enjoy every bit of the life. Mitz loved teddies, Meow, pink rabbit, Chipsy and, of course, Smitz. Smitz didn't speak much until Mitz appeared in her life. The two friends were like Ram & Sughriv, Krishna & Sudama, Atal and Advani, Sita and Geeta etc. Shocker was the bone of contention for both of them.He gave shocks to the two friends and tried to turn their life sour. Smitz and Mitz smashed Shocker with apt comments. The two started living happily once again. The boy liked a dialogue and wouldn't forget. The dialogue was ‘Oooooooooo Smitiiiiiiiiiiiiii’, 'Ooooooooo Mitaaaaaaaaaa'. Mr. Real was quite happy with his expedition in the Friends Island. It was already dark when they came out of Friends Cinema and they reached home half-dead.

There was a Friends Palace atop Friends hill. The Friends Palace was the official residence of Maa. Painted in white color, it was one of the finest structures in the Friends Island. The two friends reached the palace in the noon. The gate-keeper took the friends to the court of Maa. It was the routine in the palace to hear the complaints of the citizens of the Friends Island. The two friends were made to stand in a corner. Mr. Real was closely monitoring Maa’s keenness and shrewdness to handle the complaints. The boy said,”Maa is the most influential lady of the Friends Island. She has impressed me, inside out. Maa has criticized almost everyone to evoke the hidden power of my friends. It seemed bad to everyone when she ill-behaved but I think it was totally unintentional.” The boy hoped that Friends Island would flourish in the hands of Maa.

The two friends went to a big hall where two big pictures were nailed to the wall. They were the antecedents of the Friends Island. They controlled the reins of the island before Maa took over. The heroics of these two fighters are still cherished in the Friends Island. The children want to emulate the qualities of these antecedents.

After a grand luncheon with Maa, the two friends left for home. It was 7:00 PM when they reached Fountain Square. Mr. Real observed a man who was sitting in a corner. He continued,” He has been seeing the man at the same place for a few days now. Who is he? What is he doing here? Why doesn't he speak out? Why doesn't he talk with anyone of you? Why does he look so serious and alone?” The boy replied, “He is Sikka and has been sitting on the Fountain Square for a few months. It is one of the biggest enigmas why doesn't he speak out. He is the best friend of Magar. Probably, Magar can answer your questions well.”

It was 8:00 PM. The two friends took the dinner at Friend Dhaba. The boy told Mr. Real that they would go for Ram Lila as promised. The Ram Lila is held throughout the year in the Friends Island. The courtyard of the Friends Temple was huge and could accommodate the entire population of the Friends Island. The boy informed, “The Ram Lila which is showcased in the island is the parody of what you are aware of. The main characters of the Ram Lila are Ram, Laxman (the boy), Sita, Hanuman, Sughriv, Jamwant (Bholu), Ravan (Shocker), Bakri (Marich), and Bandar.”

The curtain goes up for the first scene. It was Ram and Laxman Janam. The scene followed the birth of Sita. Gradually, Ram fell into love with Sita. Laxman was really upset on his brother's folly. He tried to separate them by hook and crook. But failed in every attempt. Sugreev was Ram's best friend but he also couldn't save Ram from falling into the trap. Laxman's life was also off the track. He had some deadly encounters with Danvi, Ravan and Shoorpnakha. Amid all the cruelties of life, Ram and Laxman were passionate for Pool Table. They played some memorable games and the intensity of pressure could be well read on their faces. Laxman lost most of the games but he had been able to destabilize Ram at some moments. There was a bandar who spoiled the game occasionally. It was hushed away everytime by Ram and Laxman.

Ram was treated badly in the Friends Island. The talent of Ram is still untapped and a bright future is waiting for him.

Hanuman acted as a savior for Rama when Rama and Sita were together. He also tried his intelligence but failed badly. The time spent. Ram didn't leave Sita. Ram and Laxman didn't stop playing pool. The moment came when Bakri and Ravan conspired Sita's expulsion from the Friends Island. Sita went into the innards of the island. Laxman also parted from Ram.

It was 11:00 pm. The high intensity tremors shook the Friends Island. Everyone ran for the safety. Probably, it was of no use. A 15 feet high Tsunami struck the island. All the structures crumbled. It was screams and water all around. The sun witnessed the first signs of devastation. Everything was swept away in the water. There were only two things left. One was the boy and other was a timeless void.

I was soaked with sweat. My brother woke me up and asked what happened. Then I realized what I saw was a dream. I shared the dream with my friends and they were glued to their seats till the story finished.

The life is so monotonous and tiring that it compels us to pause and redo our senses. We want to leave our job and retire to the greens in the Himalayas. The same moment came in my life when I was wading through the deep waters of the "Rogue Island". I was determined to do rafting in Rishikesh, but my friends were feared about the depth, the indomitable rapids, and the crocodiles in the Ganges. They tried everything to change my plans, but I was not going to give up.
The last day of the trip came and two of the four friends left for the "Rogue Island".I and another friend caught the bus to Rishikesh. We reached there in the night and the next night, we had to monitor the skies of the "Rogue Island". Early in the morning, we reached Ramjhula. We asked from a kiosk about the charges of rafting. My friend was very apprehensive about the safety in rafting. He was asking for the shortest possible distance. It was too early and there were no rafting groups. Finally, a open jipsy with 10-11 dudes from Delhi stopped before us.My friend took his steps back and said that he won't keep his life on stake as these dudes were determined to do 21 KM of adventure on the Ganges. The image of ferocious and indomitable rapids of the Ganges must have feared him and he decided to stay there in the kiosk.I jumped into the jipsy and I found myself out of place amidst the big dudes drinking and smoking.
The journey began to take us to the point from where we were supposed to take the control of the raft. The half broken bridge, small boulders slipping down the hill and the sharp turns of hilly roads were the things to capture.Within 20 odd minutes, we, the soldiers, to win over the cruel rapids of the Ganges, reached Shivpuri(the initiation point).Three groups were there to showcase their mettle and to nourish their senses.Everybody was given a proper training of teminologies and the use of rescue rope, and the risk factor involved. There was a big plump guy who was uncomfortable sitting on the sides of the raft as we were.Because it would have made the raft unstable and we would have found us lying on some sand beach beside the Ganges. So the plump guy was made to take the control of the front and enjoy the blunt of rapids on his face.
Two professionals were on-board to help us during mishaps. The raft was given a push through the shallow waters kissing the banks of the Ganges and all of us hopped on the raft and took control in our respective positions. The rapid was nothing to fear until I saw one.The gallons of water rose and rose high it tried to overpower the big dudes and turn the raft turtle.I can't explain how much exciting it was to face the splashes and at the same time my feet began to tremble. The professional rafters had a name for each rapid. They categorised the rapid as a minor one.Everybody on the raft shouted with excitement that they won't be able to go back. The three major rapids were waiting for us. I couldn't imagine how high would it be and how much gallons of water would it throw on us?Would it submerge the raft? Would the rescue rope come into the picture to save a drowning soldier? Where would I find myself if I fall over the edge of the raft?Would it be the bed of the Ganges, some beach on inside a whirlpool?
The wait was not so long and in a few seconds, we were going to hit the first major rapid. It was a continuum of four hemispheres which were dancing in all directions and were as powerful as hundreds of elephants. The guides shouted, "Be ready!!!! we are going to hit the black tornado(name of the rapid)".My legs were trembling and I was trying to push myself inside the raft. The raft stood straight as it hit the first hemisphere of the rapid. As it rose to the peak, all of us were thrown to the back of the raft and it unbalanced the raft. Now the raft was on the mercy of the black toranado. The guides encouraged us and to take the charge. As soon as we realized what happened, we fell into the hemisphere which was dancing in all the diractions and pushed us to the rocks beside the river. We were about to hit the rock and a big acident was waiting for us.Literally, I surrendered like everybody did.But the professionals who were with us during our journey rescued the raft and took the raft clear out of the black tornado.
It was the time to take some rest and drink some water as all of us were tired, although we hadn't done anything except sitting idle on the raft. A boy was selling Maggi and mineral water and few steps ahead, there was a jumping point. All of us took a holy jump into the Ganges and got ready to cover up the next half of our extravaganza. We hit three major rapids and 7-8 minor rapids in our journey.
The Laxaman Jhula was about to come.Few of us jumped into the Ganges using rescue rope and played with water.I could literally sleep on the river bed and it was feeling like a thing not to vanish. We all crossed the Laxman Jhula lying on the river bed.Suddenly, the guides shouted that final rapid is waiting for us. So, get in. All of us hurried up and the colleagues on board push us up.We crossed the rapid without any hitch and we looked up it was Ram Jhula showing its strength and courage as it had been showing for the ages.
Guess what was the name of the rapid. The name was "Thanks God!!!!".All of us shouted high facing sky, "Thanks Goddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The Rogue Island

Once there was a maverick boy who loved the telecom giant without any limits and always dreamt of being a part of this giant. After a strenuous and long fight of over 8 months, he got into his dream archipelago, the telecom giant. But he landed on a rogue island of this huge archipelago. The interesting fact was that he knew what he was going to do. But it was a long time struggling with over 30 interviews in different companies and still he was not able to get a so called "Engineering Job”. So he decided to join the inhabitants of that strange island where people don't have a Saturday or a Sunday and do not celebrate any festival and they get paid for not celebrating the festivals. The inhabitants don't have the right to sleep as well and they are paid judiciously for relinquishing their sleep.

Apartheid is also prevalent in the “Rogue Island”. The inhabitants are broadly divided into two categories on the basis of color. One are the "blue" colored nominal aristocrats, the others are the "red" colored forced dalits. The islanders live in very precarious condition anticipating aerial attack by the ferocious aliens. So their whole day spends in averting an attack. The islanders are so robust that they don't get tired and are monitoring the skies since the day of "Inception." The maverick boy got the visa of the “Rogue Island”. As per the law of the island, the boy was supposed to join the red class. It needs to be added that it was totally intentional on the boy’s part to join the islanders because the pressure was such big on him as to burst the head into thousands of pieces.

The first day in the “Rogue Island” was refreshing and interesting for the boy’s co-passengers who were just oblivious of the scenario, lifestyle, and the precarious situation of the “Rogue Island”. They all were laughing, enjoying and celebrating their universal success. But the boy was just circumnavigating the whole island devoid of even a speck of happiness on his face. The boy knew that he just got trapped but he had to start his life with what he got. He was reluctant to accept the islanders. He was reluctant to accept the lifestyle, the apartheid and the monitoring of skies till the doom. But he still had a very small hope left in some dark corner of his heart that the day would come when he would just fly off the island and join his friends on "the dream island".

The joy of the immigrants from different cities finished off soon and they needed to monitor the skies to sustain. The boy also wanted to sustain because he wanted a safe escape. The islanders are divided into the battalions so as to make it easy to fight the sulking aliens. The bureaucrats of the island arranged a meeting for all the new inhabitants (red creed). The agenda of the meeting was to allot battalion randomly. The boy was allotted the "Intelligent battalion" which was the most aspired one. The most heinous and powerful aliens were dealt with by the "Intelligent battalion". The bureaucrat said that the boy was given a responsibility that called for devotion. He added that the boy was the lucky one as nobody got there without a permanent citizenship of the “Rogue Island”. The boy was totally unmindful of what he was spewing and just ignored him. The co-passengers weren't so lucky and joined the other not-so-good battalions and they were signaled to join their respective battalions.

The journey wasn't just easy for the boy as he had a negative force bubbling inside him. He was introduced to the soldiers who were air-lifted in the past from their fantasies and dropped into the deep waters of the “Rogue Island”. The difference between others and he was that he came on his own terms but most of the citizens were just ignorant of what happened. There were just three members and they were eagerly waiting for newbie. They air-lifted two soldiers some 20 days before the boy landed on the “Rogue Island”. The two newbie were given the responsibility to make the boy a "CHEETAH", an honorable title, given to the soldiers irrespective of their color.

The sky was divided into the zone for the sake of simplicity in monitoring. The boy was allotted the most strategically significant zone which used to have fewer aerial attacks but all of them were deadly, killing millions of civilians and leaving a trace of devastation behind it. The boy’s training began and a small little girl was entrusted with task of training him. The boy had just spent two days in the island when he came to know that he could fly off the island through an illegal mean. He ditched the battalion and looked forward to the opportunity. With the end of the day, he realized that it was just another debacle. The most dangerous part was that he had to go through the island’s bureaucrats before he could leave the island forever. But according to the article 3, section17, the boy wasn't even eligible to think of an escape. So, he hurried and withdrew his name from the passenger list.

He had another opportunity waiting on the far end of the planet, but it was a daunting task to get there. But he was so desperate that he broke all the legal bindings and just flew to the unknown territory. He meandered his way through all the processes of becoming the citizen of "the dream island." The boy’s dreams shattered once again and when he came back to the "Rogue Island", he was court marshaled and was accused of infidelity. The bureaucrat was spewing the poison all over his face and he was standing in the middle of two emotions. One was not affecting the boy at all; the other was the feeling of satisfaction that he hadn't given up chasing the big dream. The bureaucrat labeled him as the most ignorant dalit of the "Rogue Island". He asked his commander-in-chief to take legal action against the boy. Surprisingly and disappointingly, the boy was not banished from the island and asked to continue with his job.

Some twenty days passed when he rebelled and submitted his petition to give him the escape. But the bureaucrat was stringent. He said that once you were trapped, you were obliged to serve here. He also offered to help the boy to become the permanent citizen of the island. The boy knew that the bureaucrat was diplomatic and wanted to save his pride. But he didn't know that the blue color was neither the temptation nor the dream of the maverick boy. The parents of the boy were upset on his decision to decline the citizenship. They wanted to support his decision, but were apprehensive about his future too. So, they employed some indirect ways to rescue him. Finally, he submitted to the indirect gesture of the parents and decided to continue his fight from there only.

The day came when he met the bureaucrat and took back his feet tactfully. He got 4-5 chances to escape in the future, but just couldn't make it. Meanwhile, the training was on full swing, the little girl had become his teacher and he was just ignoring her efforts and focusing on the ways to escape. The boy had a poor performance and was warned again and again. The boy was a rebel. He didn't pay any heed to the accusations.

The boy was devoid of confidence, battered by the bitter accusations in the island, isolated from the support he needed, but he had the last trace of hope left and tried to touch the brink of every single opportunity. He was criticized for this also.

Finally the tired, wounded boy sat back and tried to accept the "Rogue Island" as his home and dream. But the situation had got worsened up during all the happenings. The boy was accused of slow learning, incapability, in competency, infidelity, and obtuseness. The boy couldn't stand the accusations, but also couldn't reciprocate in defense. This was the time that the boy felt that he's just not good enough and relegated to the deepest region of despondency and was willing to stay there with the cherished memories of how he chased his dreams. He needed support but he got reprimand. He needed friends, but he got enemies. He thought of improving the situation, but it worsened up. Now he was also ready to monitor the skies, but he had lost the trust of the islanders. He wanted to get up and run again, but his injuries and bruises didn’t allow him, so he decided not to move forward. He just left everything on the destiny and time.

He got up in few days with revitalized confidence and tried to learn the strategic importance of the different zones, but, obviously, without any support of islanders. The time spent and his commander-in-chief changed and also the outlook of the islanders. They started showing a little trust in him. He volunteered to take responsibilities of different zones. Everything was going good, but another mammoth jolt was ambushing in the way to new journey. The stage was being architect-ed by God and the boy was totally unaware of the plot.

On the day of disaster, the most venomous, the most dreadful, the most powerful, the most competent and the most advanced aliens were sulking in the far end of sky and were waiting for the right time to attack and devastate the island into an eternal gloom. The "Intelligent Battalion" was the only resort to avert the devastation. The four soldiers of the "Intelligent Battalion" were on leave reducing their strength. A soldier of a friendly battalion joined as a ad-hoc commander-in-chief.

The boy was entrusted with the task of monitoring 6 zones and was asked to train 3 new soldiers. This was the trust which islanders showed in the boy who was once accused of obtuseness and incompetency. The job was daunting but the boy was determined to improve his tarnished image. He was doing well. He noticed a black speck early in the morning across the light orange sky. But the boy, unaware of the God's plot, ignored that speck which was a spaceship of the aliens which was waiting for the right moment. He trained the 3 soldiers and did his monitoring. He never knew that the time is going to take a full circle once again. The aliens attacked and devastated the "Rogue Island" leaving it to tatters. The boy was really unhappy of himself. He knew that he was not going to be spared for the ignorance and may have to leave the island with the burden of shame and guilt on his heart. The boy accepted that he hated the island for what it was, but he never ever thought of its devastation.

The only thing in his favor was that he had a very busy day and made a mistake in ignoring the speck in the distant sky. But the crime was the rarest of the rarest in the island. Every citizen of the island knew his name and he became infamous once again, but on the much broader terms. The boy was demoted and was thrown into a corner. The boy knew that the situation was not good and was condemning himself for accepting the huge load and to make thing worse, he also accepted the load of another soldier from the friendly battalion. The boy didn’t inform his parents about the happenings in the remote island and kept his emotions and pains buried deep inside.

The situation improved with time. He was spared and more soldiers were recruited to strengthen the "Intelligent Battalion”. The responsibilities were reduced to meager 25% of what he handled on that day. He, again, lost the trust and importance gained with so much reluctance and pain. He was relegated to a corner. The fables of the devastation day became famous and the maverick boy was the protagonist.

According to the article 420, section -2#, all forced dalits are eligible to the permanent citizenship, if they make a good impression on their commander-in-chief and the bureaucrats. There used to be special festival for changing the color of the citizen which lasted over one month. The dalits drink and dance in the hope of another universal success. They do everything, willingly or unwillingly, to change their color. They become more active in their monitoring; they try to please their commander-in-chives and the bureaucrats. The blue colored soldiers help the red creed in the hope of taking a sun bath. The boy again circumnavigated the island, analyzed red creed’s happiness and remained what he was on the very first day, totally uninterested.

The red dalits were enlisted and called for a face-off with the bureaucrats. The boy was also among the herd of 90 dalits, but he had totally different plans. He was just waiting outside for his turn to lock horns with bureaucrats and tell them his intentions explicitly. The time came and the boy flooded the bureaucrats with all the emotions he kept buried. It was a 50 minute face-off and the most memorable face-offs till date. He declined their offer to become permanent citizen of the "Rogue Island”. He also raised concern about the treacherous policies of apartheid, politics, and the boot-licking attitude of the islanders to gain the weight. The boy knew that he was doing another rebellion, but he wanted to explicitly define his goals. He didn't want to confuse himself anymore. The boy raised his concerns and was awarded judiciously for the "sacrilege".

The boy is again facing criticism for deliberately killing his chances for the permanent citizenship. The people said that his life would end because he had locked horns with the giant. But the boy wants to do what he likes and if he deserves something, he won't need a giant to insure his life. Actually, the giant is just the minute speck in this world and the life won't start or end on a giant.

JMET 2009 V/S JMET 2010

What a shot it was from JMET this year! For first 15 minutes, I couldn't understand what the paper was and ended up with just 4 questions. It was a U-turn from the last year's paper.Last year people attempted 105-110 questions easily, but this year 100 seems to be an insurmountable figure.

I attempted 85 questions in all.

VA/RC:The passages were difficult to comprehend as well as the options were damn closer as compared to the last year.Vocabulary questions were least used words.Overall the VA section was 50% difficult than last year's.

My attempts: 24

LEVEL:Moderate to Difficult

LR:This section was a bit tougher than last year's.But it was manageable.20-25 is a good attempt this section.Verbal Reasoning questions were trickier.LR questions were a life saver in this section with some printing mistakes, but that was manageable

My Attempts:22

LEVEL:Moderate

QA:This section was full of sitters as well as some speed breakers. The Calculus and Geometry were not there.

My Attempts:17

LEVEL:Moderate

DI:This section was the same as QA with few speed breakers like the one based on scatter chart.

My Attempts: 22

LEVEL:Moderate

OA: The paper was horrible as compared to the last year. The cut-offs are going to take a huge dive.

My Grand Total:85

Cut-off for IIT-B should be around 65-70

Another debacle!!!!!!!!!

I was really happy when I took IIFT-2009, but I was little apprehensive too about DI's cut-off.Today IIFT results have been declared and I missed the bus again.I have not got my name in the list of 1029 guys who made it into the next round.I felt shocked for a moment, but I regained my composure very soon and I am ready to take on the JMET challenge with all my might.

JMET 2009 Analysis

The paper has 4 sections having 30 questions each. The time allotted for doing these 120 questions was 180 minutes.Around 25000 thousand candidates take this exam every year. The paper has Verbal Communication, Logical Reasoning, quantitative ability and data interpretation as it's four sections.

Overall Analysis: I found the paper really easy.It has see and mark questions.

Verbal Communication: It has following splits:
1.RC: It has three RCs, each contains four questions.RCs are small, easy to read and direct.
2.Vocab Related questions:There are 8 questions based on vocabulary. The words are common.

3.Parajumble: There are 2 parajumbles in this section. These are real sitters.

4.Sentence Correction/grammar: There are 8 questions in this variety.

Optimum attempt-24-28

Logical Reasoning:It has following splits:
1.If-else type:There is a chapter called Logical Connectives in TIME's logical reasoning book. There are 4 questions based on this variety.Quite simple, if one is well equipped with its fundamentals

2.Parajumbles: This section, too, has three parajumbles. These are also sitters.

3.Venn diagram: Just one question.Simple.........

4.Parallel reasoning: One question.

5.Arrangement questions: There are 9 questions on this variety. Some mistakes were there in the data provided. But the questions were a real cake walk.

6.DS: One question

7. Which statement logically follows type of questions-2

8.Which course of action to be taken-2 questions

9.What has author assumed while making this statement-1 question

10.Three-four line paragraph and two questions are to be answered on the basis of this paragraph.Really Easy.....

11.Other variety: four questions were there in this category.

Optimal attempt:22-26

Quantitative Aptitude: 75% of the questions are sitters. They don't need more than one minute of thinking.Just see and answer. The topics covered are:
1.Integration
2.Percentage
3.Probability
4.Maxima-Minima
5.Venn Diagram etc. etc.

Optimal attempt-24-28

Data Interpretation:There are questions based on Tables, Pie-Charts, Percentage and blah-blah.
The questions are straight forward and require a cool approach.

Optimal attempt-26-28

In nut-shell, the paper is on the easier side and moreover time allotted is also astronomical.Hence the cut-offs are also on astronomical side.
Last year's Cut-off for getting a rank:67/120

How I approached the paper:

1.QA-29 minutes. Attempt-29,C-24,W-5,OA-22.75
2.reasoning-33 minutes.A-25,C-19,W-6,OA-17.50
3.English-30 minutes.A-28,C-24,W-4,OA-23.00
4.DI-37 minutes.A-29,C-26,W-3,OA-25.25
5.Buffer-51 minutes

Overall score-88.50/120

I hope this post will be useful to you.........
